Sigiriya Museum Inaugurated !

The long-awaited Opening Ceremony of Sigiriya Museum was held on 28th July, with His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksha, President of Sri Lanka, and former Prime Minister of Japan Mr. Yasuo Fukuda as guests of honor.

After unveiling the memorial plaque at the entrance of the Museum and lighting the traditional oil lamp, the guests enjoyed their first look at the Museum, guided by the Director General of ccf. Along their visiting route was a group of 5th year students from Sigiriya Central College, who sat in the inner garden and drew how they imagined the lion staircase looked like, a demonstration of one of the many museum activities planned. Their drawings will be featured in a special exhibit in the Museum, along with photos from the Opening Ceremony.
